Urban planning as a strategy to improve the quality of life in segregated neighborhoods

Abstract

The objective of this article is to raise awareness about the connection that could exist between urbanism and the quality of life of people, mainly in segregated neighborhoods, where the life conditions are precarious and which in many situations put at a risk the integral development of people. The methodology used consists of a bibliographic review based on the theoretical axes that guide the research, from the analysis of experiences in the Latin American region with urban interventions that tried to raise the quality of life in the territories where they were implemented. These actions were taken mainly in places where existed citizen security crisis and others social problems, in all cases studied, they managed to identify some l criteria and analyze the true impact in these processes of urban structure and quality of life of them.
