Abstract

This study aimed to identify the psychological factors associated with the practice of sexting in young people between the ages of 20-30 years, of the Department of Estelí, during the period 2018-2019. This is a mixed type, cross-sectional research. The participants were 10 young people from the Department of Estelí, who practiced sexting and were available to collaborate with the research. The main results show that these young people practice sexting because they are asked for the content (sexual, erotic, or pornographic messages) to improve intimacy with their partner, they are all anxious people, some with inadequate self-esteem, dependent and submissive, others socially stable, independent, outgoing and some of them with affective deficiency that may influence this practice. The study concludes that the main motivations for sexting are because they are asked for sexual, erotic or pornographic content, in order to improve intimacy with their partner, this excite, distract and satisfy them, they are all anxious, dependent, liberal, tenacious; and other shy person, independent and susceptible. Although affective deficiency is not present in all the study participants, but it is found to be an influential factor as, having no love and attention from their parents in the primary stages, they seek love, attention, acceptance and satisfaction in other people through their mobile devices. Recommendations are proposed to sexting people, future researchers, fellow Psychologists and the educational core.
