Abstract

The bonding of BICU with the society and enterprise is positive however, these links are fortuitous, in the absence of an institutional policy and agenda. It is important to systematize the experiences of cooperation and alliances of BICU as they are indicators of institutional quality. Institutional self-assessment processes and BICU improvement plans are appropriate spaces to foster institutional innovations. The relations of cooperation and alliances are indicators of the institutional performance, potential financing sources of research initiatives, extension activities for development with identity and social equity. It is urgent for BICU to implement policies and actions of alliances in its plans for improvements and annual operational plans, guiding processes of alliances with society and enterprise to improve the quality of life of indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants and ethnic communities of the Caribbean coast.
