Abstract

Unemployment is both an economic and a social problem. Economically, many resources are wasted by having university students with extensive knowledge and who are unemployed. Unemployment also has negative effects socially, because long periods of unemployment can cause emotional problems for young people. This document determines the unemployment situation of young university students from FAREM Estelí. The labor market, unemployment and its different types, its economic and social causes and effects are addressed, as well as the main strategies for reducing unemployment, according to the final year students to whom the survey was applied.
