Abstract

The teaching of the English language is an educational program in Nicaragua that began in regular primary schools in 2018, but in 2022 it began in some multigrade schools with the objective of serving rural communities throughout the territory. The main purpose of this investigative work is to analyze what are some of the challenges faced by English teachers in multigrade schools. To carry out this essay, it was necessary to conduct a bibliographic review of the most important aspects of the research topic, among these are: the challenges in primary education and the teaching of English in multigrade schools in Nicaragua. Some of the results, based on the bibliographic analysis, show that the most relevant challenges faced by teachers are: classroom management, familiarization of students with the English language, lack of teacher training and limited teaching resources. Therefore, these aspects should be consistently addressed in multigrade schools.
