Use and management of water resources in district 9 of the municipality of Jinotega

This study was developed in the district 9 (sub-basin of Lake Apanás-Asturias) Jinotega, comprised by the communities of: Tomatoya, Las Lomas, El Limón, Saraguasca, Las Cureñas, Las Joyas, Las Pilas and Chagüite Grande, which they were selected through the prioritization of territory. 100 families were analyzed, whose general reference information was obtained from the data provided by La Cuculmeca and ENEL, which are development actors with a higher level of presence in the communities. This population has already been previously studied and data on its location were available. From the most relevant data obtained in the study, it is highlighted that the main source of water is the drinking source (49%), regarding water quality, the interviewees express that it is good (55%) and very good (33 %). Water management is carried out by the CAPS (68%), the management of wastewater from the washing of agrochemical application equipment, we find that 60% drains freely, in terms of gray water management, 55% do not perform I manage some of these waters. It is important to highlight that these results were obtained through surveys, interviews, focus groups and farm and yard plans.
