Abstract

The political discourse in the mouth of a politician, / twists the language, / crooked lines with crooked words, / wild screams calling their children. Lacking meaning it does not illuminate, / but darkens the intense, blinding sunlight; / of the redemptive struggle of the poor peoples of the earth. With these words I begin this comment on the poem ¿Qué sé yo de Dios ?, by Fernando Gordillo (1941-1967). He was a writer who belonged to the Generation of 1960. Precocious ideologist and university leader was a witness and victim of the repression of the Guard by Anastasio Somoza Debayle. At the time, he was considered one of the country's outstanding and prestigious intellectuals. Excellent speaker, he won national and international awards for his speeches. These and their poetry are pieces of high social commitment in favor of freedom and against the excesses of power and injustice.
