Arbitration system (Peer Review)

Review system

The evaluation system is external, confidential, and double-blind. All received articles and essays are submitted to a process of external peer-review; the reviewers are chosen by the Editorial Committee as the most appropriate according to their professional profile, academic merits, and experience.

Stages of the editorial review process

Estimated time from reception of manuscript and publication: Two and one-half months.

Reception

  • The received manuscript must not have been previously published nor be under consideration for publication in any other journal (or an explanation to the editors of such should accompany the submission).
  • Prior to the submission of the manuscript, the authors must read and comply with the stipulated style and citation norms. The system of citations and references must be based on the APA (2021) format – 4th edition in Spanish of the 7th edition in English.
  • The authors must provide the Letter of originality and cession of rights.
  • Once the manscript has been received in the OJS platform or by email to Revista Arquitectura +, the initial review stage performed by the General Editor will proceed, to confirm the relevance of topic and compliance with journal editorial policies. Afterward, the editor will return manuscripts to authors with opportune observations, and a period of eight to fifteen days will be provided for re-submission of the manuscript.
  • When the manuscript meets the standards mentioned by the General Editor, the review process will begin, where review of the manuscript contents will be conducted.

Review process

  • The Editorial Committee will consult and select qualified peer reviewers in the accepted thematic lines, from outside the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, who will perform anonymous review.
  • The peer evaluators will perform an exhaustive review of the manuscript contents and will present their results through the del Evaluation Format of Revista Arquitectura +, and where necessary, make observations in the document. The review will be made within fifteen days of receipt of the manuscript by the reviewers. 
  • The results of the peer review contained in the Evaluation Format will recommend one of the following verdicts:
    • The manuscript is ideal for publication.
    • The manuscript requires improvements in its contents and adjustments must be made.
    • The manuscript is rejected.
  • In the case that a delay occurs in the peer review, a reminder will be sent to reviewers by email, and if necessary, a replacement will be obtained for the peer review.

Incorporation of observations:

  • The authors of the manuscript will receive the results of peer review from the General Editor, and they will be given a period of from eight to fifteen days within which the adjusted manuscript must be remitted to the email of Revista Arquitectura +.
  • It is essential that the observations be incorporated appropriately within the designated time allotment to comply with the editorial process.
  • In the case of disagreements regarding the observations submitted by the peer reviewers, comment must be made to the General Editor, consider in a final evaluation.

Verification of norms:

  • The General Editor will verity the style and citation norms.
  • The General Editor will make the necessary adjustment to comply with criteria and requirements of the indices, directories, catalogues, and storage systems upon which Revista Arquitectura + relies.

Layout:

  • The General Editor will send to the authors the galley proofs in PDF format, so they can make a final evaluation of the layout, with a period of five days to return comments.

Publication:

  • Once passed the previous stages, the General Editor will be in charge of publishing the manuscripts in the electronic portal of Revista Arquitectura +.
  • The General Editor will be charged with informing authors regarding publication of manuscripts.
